Renvyle House Hotel received another accolade at yesterday’s Food & Wine Awards ceremony at Dublin’s Mansion House when its executive chef Tim O’Sullivan was declared Best Chef in Connacht.

Tim’s award ranks him alongside the three other chefs to win awards on the day who are household names. They are: Richard Corrigan (The Mill at Lyons, Co. Kildare), Nevin Maguire (McNeans Bistro, Co. Cavan) and William O’Callaghan (Longueville House, Mallow, Co. Cork. The Food & Wine Awards are unique in that the Irish dining public and readers of Food &Wine magazine vote for their favourite establishments and only those restaurants and chefs who have earned sufficient customer approval are submitted to the judging panel’s list. The prestigious judges included restaurant critic Paolo Tullio and wine writer Raymond Blake. This is the latest award in a string of accolades for the historic Connemara hotel. Last year Renvyle House Hotel was recipient of the Good Food Ireland Regional Award for Connacht for its “best practice, high standards and beliefs and good food”. It was also awarded the Bord Bia Creative Use of Vegetables gong in the Georgina Campbell Best in Ireland Awards. It is consistently ranked in the Bridgestone Top 100 Places to stay in Ireland. No stranger to national awards, Tim O’Sullivan was the 2003 national winner of the Moreau Chablis Fish Dish of the Year.
