In the Footsteps of Gogarty, Wilde & W.B. Yeats, an easy Walking weekend with renowned Guide and Archaeologist Michael Gibbons featuring walks along the Renvyle Peninsula and Killary Harbour.

Friday, 24th February –
Arrive at your leisure.
Michael will give an introductory talk with slide show at 9pm.
Retire to the Bar for some in-house entertainment.
Saturday, 25th February –
Breakfast (cooked to order) begins at 8.30am.
Gather in the Front Hall for bus pickup at 10am. You will be brought to Salruck for the starting point of the Killary Harbour Walk. Enjoy a 2.5 hour (approx.) hike along a smuggling path on the ancient borer between Galway and Mayo. Galway being the county of the infamous O’Flaherty Clan and Mayo the O’Malleys. This will be a stunning walk along Killary Harbour (Ireland’s only fjord) on the Wild Atlantic Way.
At the end of the walk you will picked up by bus and brought to Connemara National Park. Having had time for lunch Michael will then take you on the Kylemore Valley/Connemara National Park Walk. This is also a 2.5 hour (approx.) hike. You will view a 6,000 year old tomb which is set within a famine era landscape and enjoy some truly amazing mountain scenery.
On completion, the bus will bring you back to Renvyle House Hotel. Have a rest, a freshen up and dinner will commence at 7pm where you can enjoy a sumptuous 5 course dinner at your leisure up to 9pm followed by in-house entertainment in the bar until late!
Sunday, 26th February –
After a hearty (cooked to order) breakfast everyone will gather in the Front Hall for 10am. Head out with Michael on the Renvyle Peninsula Walk (again approx. 2.5 hours). Learn all about one of the Spanish Armada’s doomed ships, see some Sí Áins (Fairy Mounds), visit “Teampall na seacht Níonán” (Church of the seven Daughters).
On your return it with be time for home……or why not stay on for an extra night (Sunday night) of relaxation at the preferential rate of just €75 per person to include Dinner, Bed & Breakfast!
