Boat Trips and Sea Angling

No visit to Connemara would be complete without a visit to Killary Fjord. The nine-mile-long inlet boasts some of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland, and because of its sheltered nature, its waters are always calm.

The purpose-built cruise ship run by Killary Cruises, which can accommodate up to 150 passengers, has been designed to offer the maximum of comfort and safety to the guests, and also to offer them uninterrupted views of the spectacular scenery which makes Killary Harbour such a unique place to visit.

Inis Bo Finne (Island of the White Cow) lies seven miles (10km) off the Northwest coast of Connemara, and measures five miles by three. The island is renowned for its magnificent scenery, its historical and archaeological features, its rare flora and an abundance of wildlife. The main activities on the island today are tourism, farming and fishing. There are several safe sandy beaches strewn with shells, and its crystal-clear waters make swimming, snorkelling and diving a joy.

Cleggan is the point of departure for the daily sailings with the "Island Discovery" ferry, which take only 30 minutes. The ferry is owned and operated by the third Island sea faring Concannon family – who are happy to assure a warm and friendly welcome on board the “Island Discovery”.
