Spring Programme 2018

We have a great array of midweek and weekend breaks for everyone to enjoy this year.

We are currently refurbishing our dining room which we hope you will enjoy when you come to stay with us, along with Tim and his team’s delicious food of course.

We are also reinstating the reading room “Quiet Room” / Seomra Ciúin at the end of the Long Lounge. It was a Billiard Room for quite a number of years but with little use over the last few year and helpful suggestions from our guests for a quiet space to read and relax, we thought it a good idea to make the change.

We reopen on the 9th February and look forward to welcoming everyone then.

“One Wedding and a Funeral”

A tragedy in two nights about a young girl called Saidhbh, who is married off to an old, cantankerous farmer by the name of “Ould Thady Quinn” because of a match arranged between her father and the local Parish Priest, indeed a marriage made not in heaven but in hell! Some people want to stop this marriage at all costs – even willing to kill, to prevent it happening – but who?

A gardening weekend with Mr. Klaus Laitenberger, Organic Gardening Expert and Author and Ms. Anja Gohlke, Head Gardner at Kylemore Abbey Victorian Walled Gardens and special guests Joy Larkcom and Kitty Scully.

The weekend programme will include an introductory evening, several demonstrations and workshops, a visit to Kylemore Abbey Victorian Walled Gardens guided by the head gardener, nightly in house entertainment, and complimentary use of on-site facilities.

BALLROOM DANCING MIDWEEK

Tuesday 20th to Friday 23rd February

This midweek break will have both afternoon classes and evening dancing sessions. Ballroom dancing music will be performed by the Waltz King, Sam O’Doherty. Sam will play on Tuesday evening, on Wednesday afternoon from 2pm-4pm, on Wednesday evening and on Thursday afternoon from 2pm-4pm. On Thursday evening there will be a waltzing competition with prize-giving to follow.

The weekend is a celebration of Chilean cuisine and is an informal weekend with the best of Chilean Food & Wine.

On Friday evening, there will a tasting of four different Chilean wines accompanied by a light buffet of Chilean Foods.

After a leisurely, cooked to order breakfast on Saturday morning, Professor Michael Gibbons will take you on a 3 to 4 hour guided walk of the Renvyle Peninsula providing a wealth of knowledge on the area – both historic and archaeological.

On Saturday night there will be a banquet of Chilean themed courses. Jorge Coderch of Caballo Loco is travelling from Chile for this special event and of course there will be live bar entertainment on both evenings after dinner.
